What do you enjoy most about being on the soccer team?
一道本不卡免费高清I enjoy the diversity and the closeness of the team. Being from the suburbs of Chicago, I had never played on a team with such international flair. I am going to graduate this year with seven other seniors with only two of us being from the United States. The rest are from Australia, England, Portugal, Philippines, and Spain. The team has also been successful because of how close we are. Each year, the first-years see how close we are as upperclassmen and just follow suit.
What other activities are you involved in at Knox?
I am involved with the Anything Is Possible Education Foundation (AIPEF) and the Good Athlete Project (GAP). As co-president of AIPEF this year, we will lead the nonprofit to tutor students at Galesburg High School and raise money to give out a scholarship at the end of the year. GAP is looking to put on a collegiate powerlifting meet this spring as well as various other athletic events throughout the year. These two take up the most of my time but in the spring I always find time to volunteer at the YMCA.
What led to your interest in working with AIPEF and GAP?
一道本不卡免费高清I am involved in AIPEF because of my passion for teaching and helping others. I am currently studying to become a high school math teacher and doing my student teaching at Evanston Township High School. Because I wanted to be a future educator, I started tutoring for AIPEF my first year. I now help recruit tutors and advertise our services to the local community. GAP was started by a Knox alumnus, who was my strength coach in high school, to make sure that athletics was being used to unlock a person’s full potential.
